Workshops

I have listed here the workshops that I am currently delivering, for dates and locations please see my events page. Most workshops are full day workshops 10am-4pm, but I can deliver a two day workshop day 1 printing , day 2 a stitch project using the fabric printed . I will supply all materials but I will send a list out of things participants may want to bring. For details please see my events list, I have supplied contact details for you to book directly with the host venue . Introduction to Ecoprinting

Eco-printing is an exciting technique of printing paper and fabric with the natural dyes from leaves and flowers. The process releases the dye from the vegetation and fixes it on to the fabric or paper .

You will learn a technique for ecoprinting on paper and fabric.

You will learn about the role of mordants and the different qualities of leaves and the variety of colours and textures they produce. , as well as different ways to bundle up your paper or fabric. It is very exciting when opening bundles to see the results.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Logwood Dye and Ecoprinting Techniques

Spend the day producing both fabric and paper samples created by using a dyeing technique incorporating dye blankets and vegetation. This is a natural follow on from the ecoprinting workshop. You will explore using a combination of ecoprinting and the use of dye blankets.

Experiment with natural dye, logwood, dried seed heads and leaves to produce decorative delicate prints.

Your unique paper and fabric pieces can be used for a variety of mixed media and craft projects.

Tutor will provide most materials for this workshop.

Students are encourage to bring along any dried grasses, seed heads and leaves that they wish to experiment with.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Mini Concertina Collage Books

Spend a creative day making mini collaged concertina books. Investigate collage techniques using a variety of media, pre printed papers, fabric, magazine images and text, then you could embellish with stitch or drawing techniques. You will be guided through choosing a theme and how to investigate new creative ideas developing your artistic practice. You will soon start your own library of inspirational books that can be hung as wall art or stretched out on a shelf. They make wonderful gifts and the contents could reflect a shared memory or convey a special personal message. It is a great way to use prints created on the gelplate printing workshop.

10×10 Gelplate Printing

Using a 10cm x 10cm gelplate, you will create a range of images on paper or fabric by investigate colour texture and layering. There can be a theme Botanical prints, Patterns with Found Objects or Birds, Nests and feathers.

The resulting images can be used for a variety of creative projects including collage, concertina books and slow stitch projects.

It’s great fun and the compact format allows for great experimentation.

Tutor will supply most materials for this workshop.

Students are encouraged to bring along any found objects that can be pressed into paint to make a pattern. ( tutor will also bring some items along with her that you can use). Also any additional papers that you would like to print on, for example – sheets of text from old books, printed music, special hand made paper, bits of fabric and foliage.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Stitched Book Cover using Ecoprinted Textiles.

During this relaxing day you will make a hand stitched book cover to fit an A5 notebook. Making a template is the first activity then selecting your fabric from a range of eco printed cotton and silk . You will then explore texture and colour using stitch and adding embellishments, your finished cover will be truly unique, a mini work of art.

I will provide all materials for the day although you are welcome to bring along anything you would like to incorporate.

Stitched Cuffs Using Eco Printed Fabrics

Spend a relaxing creative day gently stitching a lovely cuff. You will use beautiful eco printed cotton and silk. Create texture and pattern by investigating a variety of stitch and fabric manipulation techniques, such as suflok puffs and rouching .

I will provide all materials for the day but you may want to incorporate a special embellishment of your own.

Stitched Coin Purse

Spend a relaxing creative day gently stitching a lovely coin purse. You will use beautiful eco printed cotton and silk. Create texture and pattern by investigating a variety of stitch and fabric manipulation techniques. I will show you how to make a pattern for a purse frame and demonstrate some stitch techniques.

I will provide all materials for the day, including the purse frame, but you may want to incorporate a special embellishment of your own.
